Dear Colleagues
The International Year of Crystallography (IYCr2014) has increased our awareness about the discipline and has widened the geographical boundaries of crystallography. The IUCr and UNESCO, together with the Regional and National Associates, scientific institutions and many other partners are still continuing many of the activities launched during IYCr2014. These activities are aimed at strengthening the ground level in crystallography and in science, worldwide.
We would like to draw your attention to the following microsymposia, which will be held at the next IUCr Congress, Hyderabad, India, 21-28 August 2017 (http://www.iucr2017.org).
MS-080 Emerging Science in the Emerging World
This MS will focus on scientific achievements, including results and methods of scientific research conducted in the emerging world, the development of scientific infrastructure, from the lab to the large-scale facilities, and so on.
MS-113 Anticipating the Harvest: post-IYCr2014
This MS is aimed at showing how IYCr2014 has been helpful in facilitating the growth of our community, the implementation of new activities and increasing awareness about our discipline. It also aims at highlighting the collaboration with other bodies in pursuing such aims to the benefit of future generations.
Contributions are welcomed to these microsymposia to report about research activities, progress on the development of scientific instrumentation and infrastructure, dissemination and outreach initiatives, the birth and development of crystallographic communities, crystallography events for the youngsters and up to the academic level, as well as ideas and initiatives to strengthen the outcomes of the educational and outreach activities of our community.
