4th European Crystallographic School (ECS4) – 2nd announcement

Dear Fellow Crystallographers,

This is the 2nd announcement of the 4th European Crystallographic School (ECS4) which will be held on July 2-7, 2017 in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. The school is entitled “High throughput structure analysis – from routine chemical problems to advanced applications” and, as such, will focus on many important topics related to chemistry, for example twinning, disorder, protein crystallography, crystallography at extreme conditions and photocrystallograhy.

A set of distinguished speakers and tutors who confirmed their presence includes:

Jerry L. Atwood (University of Missouri, US)
Leonard J. Barbour (Stellenbosch University, ZA)
Julia Bakowicz (Wrocław University of Technology, PL)
Rocco Caliandro (National Research Council, IT)
Marijana Dakovic (University of Zagreb, HR)
Joseph D. Ferrara (Rigaku, US)
Maria Gdaniec (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, PL)
Marek Glowka (Lodz University of Technology, PL)
Mariusz Jaskolski (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, PL)
Katarzyna N. Jarzembska (University of Warsaw, PL)
Radosław Kaminski (University of Warsaw, PL)
Andrzej Katrusiak (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, PL)
Claude Lecomte (University of Lorraine, FR)
Klaus Merz (Ruhr-University Bochum, DE)
Holget Ott (Bruker, DE)
Lukas Palatinus (Institute of Physics, CZ)
Paul R. Raithby (University of Bath, UK)
Anthony L. Spek (Utrecht University, NL)
Ilona Turowska-Tyrk (Wrocław University of Technology, PL)
Wojciech Wolf (Lodz University of Technology, PL)

More information about the school can be found on the website (ecs4.ecanews.org) or in the attached leaflet. While registration remains open, we also offer a number of bursaries for young crystallographers to attend the school. If you have any questions, just visit the website or contact us directly (ecs4@chem.uw.edu.pl). We look forward to seeing you in Warsaw later this year!

With best greetings,

Kinga Suwinska, Radoslaw Kaminski,
Janusz Lipkowski, and Katarzyna N. Jarzembska

PS. We are sorry to inform that Howard Flack passed away on 2 February 2017. It is a great loss to the whole crystallographic community. In these circumstances, the school programme will be subject to minor changes announced separately through the school website.
