PhD position – PSI Laboratory for Neutron Scattering and Imaging

The diffraction group of the Laboratory for Neutron Scattering and Imaging (LNS) at the Paul Scherrer Institute will open in spring 2015 a PhD positon in condensed matter physics with the theme “Structural-induced electronic complexity controlled by low temperature topotactic reactions”.

This PhD is part of a SNF/ANR project to explore the limits of structural correlations and associated phase diagrams for selected Ruddlesden-Popper and Brownmillerite type oxides, and to explore to which extend they are homogeneous. Such systems are relevant for oxygen diffusion.
If you have
– a higher education in physics, chemistry, crystallography or materials science
– knowhow in experimental condensed matter research and magnetism
– good knowledge of the English language
You will work in a small team at PSI in collaboration with the university of Montpellier/France and use large scale facilities at PSI and worldwide.
