To Secretaries of National Crystal Growth/Crystallisation Associations
Dear Colleague,
2009 marks the 40th anniversary of the BACG, and we would like to invite you to join us to celebrate this event at the 40th Annual BACG conference. The conference will be held at Wills Hall, Bristol University from Sunday 6th September to Tuesday 8th September 2009 and will include a number of special events, including a reception to honour some of the key British scientists who have led the field of crystal growth and crystallisation in the UK over the last 40 years. Leading the scientific presentations, the meeting will feature keynote lectures by many leading international researchers including Simon Black (AstraZeneca), Alex Chernov (Lawrence Livermore), Roger Davey (Manchester), Jim DeYoreo (Lawrence Livermore), Jamie Hobbs (Sheffield), Leslie Leiserowitz (Weizmann Institute), Steve Mann (Bristol), Kiyotaka Sato (Hiroshima), Kostas Saranteas (Sepracor) and Goran Ungar (Sheffield).
The Annual Lecture will be given by Margaret Sax (British Museum). There will also be a special issue of Crystal Growth and Design published based on material presented at the meeting. Attendees at the meeting are encouraged to submit research articles for publication in this special edition.
The conference will then be followed by a workshop on Computational Pharmaceutics on Wednesday 9th September.
Further information can be obtained from the conference website at
http://www.bacg.org.uk and from the attached flyer.
For a flavour of the meeting a review of last year’s conference is available from the web-site.
We would be delighted if you could advertise this special meeting amongst your members and on your Association web-site and hope that you will be able to join us in Bristol next September to take part in the celebrations,
Best Wishes,
Mike Quayle
